The Business & Professional Women of North Carolina (BPW/NC) Foundation awards three scholarships annually:
Application forms may be obtained from any local BPW President or the State Scholarship Committee Chair, and the deadline for application submission is April 15th.
The Elsie G.
Riddick Scholarship began as a loan fund established in 1925, named for the
first BPW/NC President. Since 1972 it has been administered as a
scholarship fund. In 1983 the administration of the fund became the province of
the Board of Trustees. The Board publicizes the fund and receives applications,
conducts investigations, and makes recommendations for the annual scholarship
award to the Executive Committee.
The Ruth Moss Easterling Scholarship was established in 1995 and is named for BPW/NC 1964-1965 President who also served a term as BPW/USA National President. Ms. Easterling fought hard for the rights of women, and was successful with the help of her Executive Committee, in encouraging then Governor Terry Sandford to establish the Commission on the Status of Women. Ms. Easterling has also been a State Representative for many years.
The BPW/NC Foundation Scholarship was started in 1996 after the Foundation Board met and voted to establish the third annual scholarship fund.
